Can't find what you're looking for? Please contact us with your queries.
Can I combine bulk products with standard on-line products?
Yes, but there are limits... normally, if we are bringing out a bulk load there would be room to bring out some additional items for you. Bulk delivery rates would apply.
Should there be a problem with available room to transport what you'd like, we will contact you to discuss your options.
Can I get two types of bulk product delivered at once?
Sometimes it is possible to 'split load' and bring out two types of bulk product at once. However, it does depend on the products, the volume/s and the split required... So please ring or email through your enquiry, and we will be happy to help. There is a small surcharge for split loading to cover the additional time for loading/offloading.
Can I just get a trailer load?
Absolutely! You can bring your own trailer or ute to our yard, and we can load you. Don't have a trailer? We have courtesy trailers you can use (always best to ring ahead to book one).
All our bulk products are sold by the 'scoop' of our bobcat, which equates to 1/3 of a cubic metre.
You can also have a small quantity delivered - but bulk delivery charges still apply.
Do I have to buy soil in plastic bags? It's not very green!
It's not easy being green! Unfortunately to date we have not found a cost effective and practical replacement for plastic bags.
We are happy to fill your own hessian bags or tubs, but we do ask for enough time to do this. It is rarely possible to mix and fill on the spot - so we'd prefer you to leave your bags/tubs with us to fill when we have an opportunity. We'll try our best to work in with your schedule.
Do I need to be home when the goods are delivered?
No, providing you are happy for us to leave the goods, we will simply drop them off. If specific instructions are necessary, please ensure we have all the details (eg. ‘Leave under carport’, ‘on front veranda’, or ‘just put through side gate under the eaves’…) Please provide these details on the order form. If there is something we need to clarify, we will contact you. If on the day, the driver is unable to follow your instructions (eg. You want it through the side gate, but have forgotten to leave it unlocked) we will use common sense to leave the goods in the most suitable spot the driver can see. We will take all care, but no responsibility if goods are found to be missing.
Generally, our delivery is deemed 'curbside'. As a courtesy, we will endeavour to put the items somewhere safe and where it's convenient for you. However, this does not necessarily mean up or down stairs, or via the lift if you're in an apartment block. If the delivery drop is considered unsafe or unreasonable, it will be up to the driver's discretion where they ultimately leave the goods. If you have a specific, difficult delivery request, please contact us to discuss.
For Bulk deliveries - please provide detailed dumping instructions. We will endeavour to drop the load where requested - however if on the day the driver deems it unsafe or impractical to drop it where instructed, he will dump the load in an alternative position at his discretion. We will always try to contact you if there is a problem (eg. a car parked in the way) - so it's important you answer your phone on your delivery day just in case we are trying to reach you.
Should the driver need to return to base with the load - because there was no available option for dumping - you will be charged an additional delivery to bring the load out again.
Yes! However, if you're wanting soil delivered in bulka bags, we need to use a 3rd party courier with a Hiab crane - and this will incur additional costs.
Plus, the bag itself, additional machinery use time and labour involved in filling a bulka bag does mean there's an additional charge.
You are welcome to collect a bulka bag yourself providing we can load your truck/trailer in our yard with our forklift.
If you want us to fill YOUR OWN bulka bag - please note we can only do so if it's rated for 'multiple uses'. Unfortunately for OH+S reasons, we are not able to refill single use bulka bags. Any multiple use bag must be in good condition - we reserve the right to inspect and refuse to fill any bulka bags if we do not deem them serviceable. (Filling & labour charge applies.)
Again, because of the time involved, we request you pre-arrange to have bulka bags filled - if we are very busy, or don't have available staff, we will not be able to provide an on the spot service.
We find a loose bulk delivery is easier to handle for customers rather than a heavy bulkabag that cannot be moved once delivered, and usually requires splitting to access the soil. Not to mention the additional plastic wastage and expense involved. However, when hiab access is the only option - we can certainly help.
How do I work out how much soil I need?
You can calculate how much soil is required by measuring your garden bed; width x length x required depth (in metres - ie. 20cm is 0.2m)
eg. a garden bed 1.5m wide x 3m long x 0.3m deep has a volume of 1.35 cubic metres
We have a handy soil volume calculator here - click on the link.
I have some site specific problems - can you help?
We have a lot of experience working with Perth gardeners and commercial landscapers so we know that selecting soil is not "one size fits all". At The Green Life Soil Co, we have the ability to tailor make or customise soil recipes. Please call us to discuss. (Minimum quantities may apply for custom recipes.)

Yes, growing a gorgeous garden can sometimes be a bit tricky, but don't be overwhelmed! We are here to offer you advice to make sure it will be a successful and rewarding experience for you.
I would like a delivery, but live outside the Perth metro area.
Our "metro area" is based on 20km radius (approx.) of our Middle Swan premises. Please contact us if you live outside of this area.
Australia wide postage of smaller items (under 5kg) is also possible - please contact us to discuss.
All prices are quoted in AUD and are INCLUSIVE of GST.
What if I really want my goods earlier?
We could arrange a one-off special delivery for you, however this would attract a full delivery price. Our ‘normal’ delivery prices for bulk loads are based on distance from our base, so vary depending on the suburb. As a very general rule, you could expect to pay between $50 - $120 for a special delivery (contact us for a firm quote). One-off deliveries still need to be scheduled, and are booked on a first come, first served basis.
What if there is something I am not happy with?
Customer satisfaction is hugely important to us. Should there be something about your order you are not happy with, or have a query about, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving the delivery and we will do our utmost to sort it out for you.
What's different about a 'bulk delivery'?
Bulk deliveries (eg. loose soil, and bulk straw, etc.) are loaded by machine & brought out to you in a tipper truck which comes from our base, to your home, and back to our base. By it's nature, bulk soil must be delivered this way, and delivery costs vary depending on distance and time this journey takes. (We can quote you, if you contact us- or use our delivery zone calculator here.)
What will I pay for a bulk product delivery?
The nature of bulk orders (ie. delivered in a tip truck) mean that we are unable to do 'delivery runs' to an area of Perth and deliver to multiple addresses in one trip. Therefore bulk orders are charged on a one-off basis (because we load the truck, deliver the goods, then bring the truck back).
Bulk delivery charges are based on distance from our yard, and vary by suburb. To obtain a quote, check your delivery zone here; or call us.
Our carrying capacity per load is 6 cubic metres of soil. Larger loads can be delivered in multiple deliveries. Larger trucks can also be hired for specific deliveries if necessary.
For Standard Orders:
Once we receive your order, it will be processed and scheduled for
delivery. We do ask you allow up to a week/10 days, although often
orders are delivered much sooner. Because we collate orders to do an efficient delivery run, and sometimes goods ordered need time for manufacturing, we don't have set delivery days (although our usual delivery days are Thursday & Friday).
Let us know if you need to be notified of the expected delivery date (there's a 'delivery notes' section in the checkout process for you to leave instructions). If you have any concerns, please contact us. Normally, an SMS will be sent the day before to confirm delivery ~ although sometimes last minute circumstances may mean things change on the day.
For bulk deliveries (loose soil):
We can often arrange delivery within 1-2 business days, and we will contact you and advise the delivery day and APPROXIMATE time. Should you require a specific delivery window for a bulk load (ie. you will have a landscaper on site), please call us to arrange the details.
